David's career began with an eight year spell as a researcher with the Distributed Systems Group at Newcastle University where he published work on reliable distributed systems and advanced Web architectures. In 1998, David became a co-founder of Arjuna Solutions Ltd, a startup company created to productize the transaction processing research carried out at the University. Following acquisitions by Bluestone and Hewlett-Packard, David became an HP Distinguished Engineer where he led the enterprise messaging team and architected message-oriented middleware systems for CORBA and J2EE, including the HP Message Service JMS product. In 2002, following the merger between HP and Compaq, David became the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Arjuna Technologies Ltd, specialist suppliers of reliable messaging and transaction processing software components.
In 2006, David left Arjuna to join Microsoft as a Program Manager in the Connected Systems Division where he works on enterprise messaging and business process management technologies.
David received a first class honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Northumbria University in 1991 and an M.Sc. in Computing Software and Systems Design from Newcastle University in 1992.
